This collection of songs exist because Lazlo from
BlowUpRadio.com decided to challenge artists that he plays on his show to write one song per week based on the topic/item he proposes. There are no rules other than to write something pertaining to these items...these are the first five:
1) SPORTS
2) MALLS
3) Take a cover song you hate and re-record it in any way you wish
4) NATURE
5) Write a song based on an abstract painting from the artist JASON
MICHAEL
The songs on these items are as follows:
1) Wherever You Go - This is a song about how since I normally would be watching Yankee games, and baseball games in general (which aren’t happening due to the pandemic), I did the obvious: I watched The Wire again. The song wrote itself.
2) Strip Mall - I propose a solution to the dying mall culture of today...turn them into strip malls. Not malls where you can enter each store from the outside, like where Domino’s Pizza stores are generally located, but have normal interior malls require you to remove your clothes upon entry. Musically the song is written in the style of The Cult’s album, “Electric”, which is what I listened to 99% of the time when driving to the mall in 1987.
3) Secret Cover - You’re just going to have to listen to it.
4) Nature Time in the Butcher’s Forge - A song about the nature I see from my home during quarantine.
5) Come On In - What did I see in JM’s painting? I saw someone pressed against the window in the pouring rain, and I wondered why they didn’t make the effort to come inside where it was much nicer and warmer.
So if you like any of these tunes, thank you for listening and I appreciate it.
If you don’t like one (or any) of these, please blame Lazlo for making me write/record them.
Thank you.
